I am always struck by your originality and creativity in what you write here. So true that we might place a book repeatedly at the bottom of the stack when it is meant for us! I loved Cather Warner's poem. Thank you for your words that inspire me. And thank you for your photographs that fit perfectly. xo Debra
Often I try to zip through my email inbox. However, your newsletter requires time to mull and meditate. I especially liked this post with poetry, pilgrimage, and philosophical lens with which to think about life.
Mary of Egypt is a favored saint in the Orthodox tradition my oldest son and his family are part of. In fact some of their children attend a summer camp named after her. But beyond her familiar name I know little about her life. Thanks, dear Nancy, for yet another great book recommendation. Years ago I read Amy Frykholm's slim volume on the mystic Julian of Norwich, and loved it. So any time you don't know what to do with one of your books... send it my way.

Debra, I’m grateful to hear that something in this post inspired you and not surprised that it may have been Cathy’s poem. xo

Thank you, Mary, for persisting with the mulling and meditating. I do appreciate it!

Mary, Given your son’s connection with Mary of Egypt you would really enjoy Frykholm’s book. Not a lot is know about her but she’s done much research.
